11th Grade Math
Concepts we've learned this year
A few concepts learned this year:
- Probability
- Fundamental Counting Principals
- Permutations
- Combinations
- "E" and Logarithms
- Theoretical and Experimental Probability
Struggles throughout the year
Throughout this year, I have learned that 11th grade math is a lot different that the math in previous years. I used to love math, and I still do but it definitely is a little more frustrating for me now that it's more complex. I had a pretty hard time learning logs and "e" I understand it better now but at first I felt like I just couldn't get it right, and that's when I get really frustrated. But I realize now that I have learned a lot this year and I am ready for more complex math next year.
Law of Large Numbers
This is a cool concept that I enjoyed learning. It has a lot of use in real life. It is something people use all the time especially in certain fields. The idea of "real" math I think is this. Probability of a specific occurrence is something I find myself using randomly sometimes. When people say "When are we going to use this in real life?" I think this is something you really WOULD use.
Expression through math
You've heard before that math is a language, and it really is. It's a form of communication and being clear and accurate makes sure the what you're saying is being heard. If you don't check your work, things can get lost in translation. I've learned the importance of making sure your precise and don't let silly mistakes get the wrong message across.
Goals
In the future, I will continue to use math everywhere I go. Math is something everyone always uses, maybe not complex math but simple math for sure. Next year, like I said, I plan to take honors and challenge myself more and continue studying for the SAT because I still need to take. I don't plan to study math in college but I recognize that and major I choose will probably contain some sort of math. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me regarding math.
